Kitchen Sinks
Purchasing a new kitchen sink means making dozens of little decisions. The size, shape, number of bowls and type of mounting all help determine which sink you need. Functional Options for Kitchen Sinks
Whether you choose an undermount, self-rimming, tile-edge or apron sink is a matter of taste and is essentially a design decision. There are some options available to you, though, that are about functionality, including:
- Low-divide models, like Kohler's Smart Divide line, have a very low divide between the two bowls. This allows you to use the sink as either a single or double bowl, depending on how much water you put into it.
- Wall-mount styles allow you to place the unit at the exact height you want it, not at the height dictated by your counters. This is a great idea if you cannot comfortably bend over low enough or reach high enough for a counter-height model.
- Corner units allow you to take advantage of that awkward corner counter space. The two bowls on this model are generally split, not side-by-side, with the faucet between them in the corner.
