Carve Out a Space for a Mop Basin or Mop Sink

If you are constantly mopping the floors and washing large items--even your dog--and don't want use your bathtub for the task, consider adding a mop basin or service sink to your laundry room. Mop sinks are set into the floor almost like shower bases and have edges (the height of which varies by the manufacturer) that keep water in the basin and off of the rest of your floor. Mop sinks can be made of a variety of materials, including stone composites and cast iron that is known for its longevity. In addition to installing your service sink, you can purchase accessories that will make your job easier. A janitor's rack above your mop basin holds mops and brooms, and a long-necked faucet allows you to fill scrub buckets more easily. Adding a pull-out spray faucet can be a helpful addition for rinsing even the largest of objects.
