Shower Doors are available in a multitude of styles

Shower doors are available in several styles:

  • bypass shower doors
  • pivot shower doors
  • frameless shower doors
  • bi-fold shower doors

In small spaces, a bi-fold style is more economical as far as space is concerned. For bathtub/shower combinations, bypass models are more popular. If you have a larger bathroom, consider frameless or pivot styles for a more sophisticated look.

Pivot or swinging doors are available in sizes up to four feet wide. If your opening is larger than this or if you want a smaller model, you can use panels on one or both sides to make the opening smaller. You can buy models that swing either out or in both directions. However, you won't be able to select models that swing inward only. For this reason, you'll have to take into account other fixtures and accessories. You don't want to hit your towel bar or toilet when opening the door.

Frameless shower doors are classy alternatives to bi-fold or bypass styles. They are as sturdy as framed versions, and because they lack the metal framework, they make your bathroom look bigger, especially if the glass is clear.

Kitchen and Pantry is an online retailer of kitchen and bath fixtures, faucets and accessories. It sells everything you need to build a custom shower or do a basic remodel or redecorating project.
